What timbers are used in the manufacture of our products:
What is Rubberwood? (Hevea
Brasiliensis)
Rubber plantations have existed for hundreds of years in tropical
countries. These plantations have been used mainly for the production of
latex. After the economic life of the rubber tree, which is generally 30
years, the latex yields become extremely low and the planters then fell
the rubber trees and plant new ones, previously these trees were burned
and turned into charcoal providing little subsequent value both
economically and ecologically. This eco-friendly Rubberwood (Hevea
brasiliensis) is an excellent timber to use for the production of children's
toys.
Albizia Falcataria
The is one of the worlds fastest growing trees. After its useful life as a windbreaker on the hill plantations of Sri
Lanka it is harvested.
What is Beech?
Pale brown to pinky and white , hard wood but relatively easily worked.
Whitest wood considered to be best grade.
Uses of Beech - Large trees for timber, not suitable for outside use although used for piles
immersed in water. Used for furniture and many other uses such as bowls, spoons,
tools, plywood, and veneers. Valuable as sawn timber. Widely used for its decorative
features and colour for veneers.
